Photo Gallery (Slideshow)
The following is a photo gallery of some of the artifacts contained in Blundells' Cottage. These artifacts were in use from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s. Some of these directly link to the different units included in this education kit.
Photo Observation Activity
These photos can be used for:
Observation – Describe an object (eg. What is the object made from?)
Comparison – Compare the object with another (eg. modern day version of the object)
Deduction – Ask 'how' and 'why' the object is used.
This can lead students to discussing what effect the objects use would have on social or family life. What does it tell them about 19th century rural society? Is this item still in use? How has it changed? What has replaced it?
