Blundells' Cottage – Before and After

Blundells’ Cottage – Before and After

Blundells' Cottage was built around 1860 as a worker's cottage on the Duntroon Estate.  It was a family home for the next 100 years.  In that time its surroundings changed from 'the middle of nowhere' to 'the middle of the city'.  The cottage opened as a museum paying tribute to the pioneers of the Canberra district in 1964.

The 'before' photo (black and white) shows how the cottage looked before preservation began in 1961.  The 'after' photo (colour) was taken in 2000.

Can you notice any differences?  How does time affect houses like this?

Are there any old buildings near your school that were built in the 1800s?
