Fireplace Unit: Light and Heat

Fireplace

Cooking was generally done over an open fire or on a wood stove.  This was also the only way to warm the house and fireplaces were a central point of family life.  The wooden shelf above the fireplace is called a 'mantelpiece'.  Photos of the Blundell family take pride of place on this in the parlour at the cottage.

Can you see any cooking pots in the photo?

question Can you spot what is out of place in this photo?
