Aims
Students will be able to:
- develop a better understanding of the role of a police officer
- develop an appreciation of the National Police Memorial and the role it plays in the Australian community
- understand the design process and guidelines for the development of a national memorial
- reflect on the contemporary role of Australia’s national capital
- investigate and critically analyse the purpose of police memorials
- reflect on the history of sacrifice in the police services
- participate in a detailed historic investigation based on colonial Australia
Students will also be able to:
- understand and/or critically challenge ideas
- investigate and communicate more effectively
- make reasoned and informed decisions
- participate effectively as individuals or in a small team
- put events into a historically logical sequence; and
- develop a respect for cultural heritage.
